For Purpose is Ireland’s not-for-profit graduate programme. For Purpose connects not-for-profit organisations with talented graduates who are searching ‘for purpose’ in their careers and the chance to make an impact on civil society.
Graduate trainees on the For Purpose programme receive one-to-one mentoring and support throughout their traineeship. The programme provides you with the skills, support and connections to start your career in the not-for-profit sector and develop your leadership potential.
Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) is seeking to add an ambitious and dedicated Programmes Assistant to its team as a part of the For Purpose programme. This role will be based in SEI’s office in Dublin and will offer the trainee the chance to gain an in-depth understanding of the work of social entrepreneurs in Ireland and direct experience of a range of social impact activities within a not-for-profit organisation.
About Social Entrepreneurs Ireland:
Our Vision: An Ireland where every social problem gets solved quickly and effectively.
Our Mission: Support high-potential social entrepreneurs to tackle Ireland’s social problems.
At Social Entrepreneurs Ireland we believe that although people want to solve social problems, many problems are invisible or misunderstood, we don’t always have the right solution, and even if we do, it’s hard to solve them at scale. However, social entrepreneurs see problems others don’t, they come up with new ideas to solve them, and they have the commitment and skills to deliver the solution at scale. As the journey for a social entrepreneur is unclear, risky, and lonely, we support them on every step of it with funding and targeted supports.
Over the last 15 years we have invested over €7.3 million in 314 social entrepreneurs, providing over €2.9 million worth of non-financial supports along the way, and pro bono support worth on average €350,000 each year.
The organisation has undergone significant growth in the past 15 years and has delivered a range of support programmes to many different social entrepreneurs. To support the organisation’s continued growth, SEI are looking to add a Programmes Assistant to their team.
Purpose of the Programmes Assistant role:
The Programmes Assistant will support the Impact Team, whose purpose it is to select the most impactful social entrepreneurs in Ireland, and deliver high-quality, meaningful supports to them through SEI’s core support programmes so that they can tackle Ireland’s most pressing social problems quickly and effectively. Working closely across the impact team, the role will involve supporting the running of various events and trainings for social entrepreneurs across Ireland as part of our selection process and support programmes, tracking and monitoring programme progress, and helping to ensure that the experience of the social entrepreneurs and our wider community is an inspiring and positive one.
In this role you will gain a profound understanding of the social entrepreneurship sector and meet with hugely inspiring and interesting people, including SEI Awardees, Alumni and the hundreds of social entrepreneurs who apply to SEI each year. You will also engage with the organisation’s many supporters: leaders and experts in business, media and the social sector in Ireland and beyond. You will work both independently and as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team, and will be encouraged to work in a creative and entrepreneurial spirit.
Are you seeking an opportunity to begin your career in the not-for-profit sector? We are looking for an ambitious graduate with the following profile:
- A deeply held passion for Ireland, and a strongdesire to see positive change come about more rapidly in society
- Inspired and energised by the work of social entrepreneurs and the mission of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland
