Role title: Programmes Assistant

Location: 11/12 Warrington Place, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2

Duration: 12 month graduate traineeship with the prospect of progressing with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland on completion of the traineeship.

Hours: 35 hours per week

Remuneration: €23,000 per annum

For Purpose is Ireland’s not-for-profit graduate programme. For Purpose connects not-for-profit organisations with talented graduates who are searching ‘for purpose’ in their careers and the chance to make an impact on civil society.

Graduate trainees on the For Purpose programme receive one-to-one mentoring and support throughout their traineeship. The programme provides you with the skills, support and connections to start your career in the not-for-profit sector and develop your leadership potential!

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) is seeking to add an ambitious and dedicated Programmes Assistant to its team as a part of the For Purpose programme. This role will be based in SEI’s office in Dublin and will offer the trainee the chance to gain an in-depth understanding of the work of social entrepreneurs in Ireland and direct experience of a range of social impact activities within a not-for-profit organisation.

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland believe that Ireland’s social problems are not being solved quickly enough and that we need to develop new ideas to tackle our biggest challenges. To achieve this, SEI supports social entrepreneurs from start-up to scale-up. SEI provides them with mentoring, funding and access to a network of support to help them to significantly increase their impact in Ireland.

Over the last 14 years, SEI has invested over €7 million in 264 social entrepreneurs, providing over €2 million worth of non-financial supports along the way. In the last year alone, their projects have impacted the lives of over 1.7 million people across Ireland. In 2017, SEI provided support to the work 12 social entrepreneurs which resulted in 115 new jobs being created and had a directly impacted the lives of 373,093 people.

The organisation has undergone significant growth in the past 14 years and has delivered a range of support programmes to many different social entrepreneurs. As SEI prepare for further growth in the years to come, SEI are looking for a Programmes Assistant to support the team to select and support the highest potential social entrepreneurs in Ireland. 

Purpose of the Programmes Assistant role: 

The Programmes Assistant will support the Impact Team, whose purpose it is to select the most impactful social entrepreneurs in Ireland, and deliver high-quality, meaningful supports to them through SEI’s core support programmes so that they can tackle Ireland’s most pressing social problems quickly and effectively. Working closely with the Programmes Manager, the role will involve supporting the running of various events and trainings for social entrepreneurs across Ireland as part of our selection process and support programmes, tracking and monitoring programme progress, and helping to ensure that the experience of the social entrepreneurs and our wider community is an inspiring and positive one.

In this role you will gain a profound understanding of the social entrepreneurship sector and meet with hugely inspiring and interesting people, including SEI Awardees, Alumni and the hundreds of social entrepreneurs who apply to SEI each year. You will also engage with the organisation’s many supporters: leaders and experts in business, media and the social sector in Ireland and beyond. You will work both independently and as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team, and will be encouraged to work in a creative and entrepreneurial spirit.
