If you’re already a graduate and you’re searching for a role in the not-for-profit sector right now, then For Purpose also has a place for you. We offer individual graduate traineeships on a rolling basis with organisations who have an immediate need for a graduate trainee. How does the application process work?

  • Graduates apply to the strands available on the For Purpose programme (e.g. the fundraising & communications strand, social care strand, etc.). You can apply to more than one strand if you wish but certain strands require specific qualifications – make sure to have a look at the description of the strand before applying to see if you the meet the criteria.
  • Applications for the programme are screened by the For Purpose team and candidates who meet the criteria are invited for an interview with the team.
  • Candidates who are successful at the screening stage are then shortlisted and ‘matched’ with different For Purpose partner organisations for a final interview stage. Preferences in terms of candidates preferred sectors, location and other factors are taken into account prior to matching.
  • From this process, graduate trainees on the programme are selected and an offer is made directly by partner organisations. The trainees contract of employment is therefore issued directly by the partner organisation, not For Purpose.
  • Traineeships are typically 12 months in duration; however, strands may vary in length. The goal at the end of each traineeship is for the graduate to remain and progress with the organisation beyond the duration of their initial role.
